Warning: Upcoming and Unsettling Horror Film Portraying the Holy Family

Magnolia Pictures, an American film production company and a subsidiary of Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner’s 2929 Entertainment company, plans to release a blasphemous film, The Carpenter’s Son. The French American horror film stars Nicolas Cage as Joseph - Jesus’ Father.

In May 2025, Magnolia Pictures acquired US distribution rights to the film. A fall 2025 release date is planned; the exact date has not been set.

Do not be misled by the title - this is not a Christian film. The Carpenter’s Son is not a biblically accurate portrayal of Christ’s childhood. Inspired by the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas, the movie focuses on the childhood of Jesus from a horror perspective.

Details of the plot are vague, but the unsettling trailer describes Jesus’ life as a horror-thriller with a possessed and supernatural force. This is not a movie Christians want to see.

It is extremely disrespectful to Christians to produce a blasphemous film. This type of content is dangerous and confusing to children and other ages who happen to stumble across the trailer or the film itself. Why approve of such an irresponsible and disturbing film?
