Insinuated Profanity in New SpongeBob Movie Marketing Campaign!

Insinuated Profanity in New SpongeBob Movie Marketing Campaign!

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, produced by Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies, is set to release on December 19, 2025, in movie theaters across the country. This is the fourth film in the SpongeBob SquarePants series.

Currently, promotional posters at cinemas read “Ship’s About to Go Down.” Box-office mylar signs inside movie theaters read “This Christmas They Are in Deep Ship.” This type of advertising is completely unnecessary since this film is marketed to young children.

Paramount and Nickelodeon chose to include wording that sounds like a curse word; movie goers of all ages understand the implied term.

This offensive marketing campaign insinuates profanity and includes an innuendo, both of which are completely unnecessary. Foul language (or the implication of it) is not needed in this or any film promotions, especially for children.

The target audience for this cartoon movie is extremely young; even with the crude reputation SpongeBob has, parents will avoid this film. The movie entrance and interior lobby displays the double entendre. Everyone knows children, as young as kindergarteners, repeat what they see and hear.

One Million Moms warns parents of this marketing campaign. With implications of foul language and suggestive dialogue, the movie will likely include both.

Paramount and Nickelodeon have deliberately decided to produce controversial movie posters and signs instead of wholesome ones. One Million Moms finds this highly inappropriate.

Let them know that, as a parent and a consumer, you are disgusted by their recent marketing choices.

Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies need to know that parents disapprove!
