Hot Shot’s Inappropriate Ad!
The company leaders of Hot Shot Insecticides need to know that parents disapprove of its currently airing bug spray commercial, as it includes a profane statement for its Ant, Roach & Spider Killer – Multiple Scents.
“Whoa!” is blurted out at the beginning of the commercial, while roaches start to crawl across the floor. But then the statement “A H*LY SH!T MOMENT” is plastered in bold letters on the screen during the current Hot Shot bug spray ad.
This type of vulgarity is inappropriate and unnecessary. Foul language (or the implication of it) is not needed in this or any commercial, but that is obviously what Hot Shot intended with their bold statement.
Hot Shot chose to include a phrase using curse words and to begin the ad with viewers understanding exactly what was implied since they only replaced a couple of letters with similar-looking character symbols instead.
This type of advertising is entirely unnecessary. Hot Shot has deliberately decided to produce controversial advertisements instead of wholesome ones. One Million Moms finds this highly inappropriate.
What’s worse, this Hot Shot advertisement airs during prime time, when families are most likely to be watching. How damaging and destructive to children! Hot Shot should be more responsible in its marketing decisions.
As a parent and consumer, let Hot Shot know that you are offended that the company cares more about shock value than the impression made on our children.
Apparently, Hot Shot executives do not care about what children see, as long as the ad gains attention. Everyone knows kids mimic what they see. This ad demonstrates weak marketing, and Hot Shot should have the corporate responsibility not to use an age-old euphemism that offends families.
Let them know that, as a parent and a consumer, you are disgusted by the company’s recent marketing choices.
