Tremendous Amount of Inappropriate Language Used In KURU Ads!

KURU footwear has a new, irreverent spokesperson, the KURU Guru, bringing the vivid message of foot-pain relief to life. The Little Big Engine ad agency plans to draw attention to the footwear company by using its take on crude humor with the new spokesperson.

The ad campaign for KURU includes several commercials filled with both irreverent and inappropriate language. In the “Bad Language” commercial, the Guru spews pain-related profanity and then states, “I’d swear in front of my children and then blame it on my homeschool kid next door for teaching them those words.”

In a feeble attempt to show support for parents in painful torment, the Guru encourages the purchase of Kuru shoes to “Stop you from emotionally scarring  your children with foot-pain profanity.”

Foul language (or implication of it) is unnecessary in this or any advertisement, but this is apparently what KURU intended. KURU’s commercials have been offensive before - this advertisement upholds KURU’s reputation as curse words are repeatedly spoken. Bleeps partially cover the words so often that the overall content is barely understood, but the swear words are identifiable.

KURU chose to include these profane insinuations, with viewers completely understanding the intended implication.

This type of advertising is entirely unnecessary. KURU has deliberately chosen to produce controversial advertisements instead of wholesome ones. One Million Moms find this highly inappropriate.

Apparently, KURU executives do not care about what children hear – despite how damaging and destructive such ads are to our children. Everyone knows kids repeat what they hear. This ad demonstrates weak marketing, and KURU should have the corporate responsibility not to use an age-old euphemism that offends families.

Let them know that, as a parent and a consumer, you are disgusted by their recent irresponsible marketing choices. KURU needs to know that parents disapprove!
