Knockoff Barney Character Starring In Horror Film!

Extreme warning to parents!

Buddy, the currently released film showing in theaters, is rated R, and for good reason!

Hopefully, parents do not overlook this rating.  Buddy appears remarkably similar to the 1990s show that featured a purple dinosaur named Barney.

Parents, do not be misguided by the orange unicorn costume with a huge, purple heart on its belly! Unfortunately, what appears to be a preschool movie is a disturbing horror film entirely inappropriate for children and families.

Buddy, the unicorn, hosts a children’s program filled with singing and dancing with elementary-age children. At first glance, Buddy seems to be just that – everyone’s joyful buddy. But when one child does not want to join in the fun, Buddy’s mood takes a turn for the worse.

Both children and adults scream in pain as Buddy brutally attacks them. There is a significant amount of gore and violence in this movie as characters are stabbed, impaled by the unicorn’s horn, suffocated, drowned, and set on fire.

Buddy displays his predatory side as children are forced to hug him. For one adult female, Buddy gropes her clothed body from behind and repeatedly licks her face.

This violent film also includes foul language, mentions the names of genitals, and uses God’s name in vain. Because kids often repeat what they hear, it is highly concerning that one child character exclaims, “Bad words are so fun!”

To draw people in, the film cast child actors to attract young viewers. This disturbing content is deeply troubling, especially given recent concerns over the historical abuse of child actors from classic kids’ shows.

Director Casper Kelly and Roadside Attractions should both be held accountable. Why do producers have to take something wholesome and clean and turn it into something dark and twisted?

This evil movie is not safe for children, and families need to be forewarned. Families can likely avoid Buddy in theaters, but it will be available on streaming platforms.
