Hanes Highly Inappropriate Marketing Campaign!
In the newest Hanes “Get Comfortable” marketing campaign, four ads feature uncomfortable situations.
One Hanes commercial displays a trail of clothes on the floor leading to a bedroom. Inside, two people lay on the bed, with only their socked feet visible from under the blanket. One lovingly strokes the other's foot, leaving little to the imagination.
In another Hanes advertisement, a lady shops in a grocery store wearing only her underwear, tank top, and socks. Not wearing pants, she catches the attention of the clerk and other shoppers.
Another Hanes ad involves what appears to be a young mistress appearing at her much older lover’s funeral. The deceased is viewed in the casket wearing Hanes’ attire from head to toe. Very much aware of the situation, his family and wife disapprovingly glance at the girlfriend.
As if that is not enough, while shooting pool at a bar, a man’s pants are pulled down, exposing his boxer briefs. Unfazed, he makes the shot and then continues to play with his pants around his ankles.
All four commercials end with the Hanes logo and tagline, “Get Comfortable.”
Hanes should be ashamed of their highly sexual ads. This type of advertising is entirely unnecessary. Hanes has deliberately chosen to produce controversial advertisements instead of wholesome ones. One Million Moms find this highly inappropriate.
Apparently, Hanes executives do not care about what children see, despite how damaging and destructive such ads are to our children. This ad demonstrates weak marketing, and Hanes should have the corporate responsibility not to use an age-old euphemism that offends families.
Let Hanes know that, as a parent and a consumer, you are uncomfortable with its recent irresponsible marketing choices. Hanes needs to know that parents disapprove!
