Urge Simply Orange to No Longer Sponsor 'Teachers'

TV Land has recently begun airing the vile new program "Teachers." The previews alone are disgusting, and that is extremely disturbing since it involves a young cast. The series airs on Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. CT with a 14-L rating, but the previews air much earlier in the evening when children are likely watching TV. The advertisements for "Teachers" are airing during shows such as the "Andy Griffith Show" and other family-friendly programs. If the promos are this bad, then obviously the show is not suitable for TV. The network is marketing this show with the line "six elementary school teachers try to mold young minds, even though their own lives aren't really together."

Teaching is an honorable job, but oftentimes a thankless job. Students are showing less respect for teachers every year, and programs like this are not going to help the situation. Teachers are already sometimes underappreciated, and kids are bullied enough by peers so to show them being bullied by their teachers is horrendous. Apparently nothing is off limits for this TV Land show that drags teachers through the mud, and then has teachers verbally attacking students.

Teacher discussions with students, coworkers, and parents involve sexual innuendos, one night stands, sleeping around, drugs, alcohol, lying, deception, and romantic weekends.

1MM wants to support and encourage teachers, not belittle, mock, or bring them down as TV Land is doing. Everyone knows that the entertainment industry desensitizes viewers, especially impressionable young minds.

The name of the show and the school campus setting along with elementary age cast members will attract young viewers. The content in this program is inappropriate for children and teens and will send the wrong message to America's youth, not to mention it is offensive for any age.

TV Land's newest show "Teachers" is irresponsible and an insult to all teachers. The network is encouraging crude dialogue, offensive gestures at school, teachers being cruel to young children, and questioning authority.

As a parent and member of OneMillionMoms.com, I strongly encourage Simply Orange (Coca-Cola) to drop all plans of financially supporting the inappropriate TV Land program "Teachers." The show airs on Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. CT with a 14-L rating, but the previews air much earlier in the evening when children are likely watching TV. The vulgar advertisements for "Teachers" are airing during shows such as the "Andy Griffith Show" and other family-friendly programs. If the promos are this bad, then obviously the show is not suitable for TV, and I am sure you do not want your company associated with this content.

While your company is a household name, I do not agree with your financial backing of this disgusting program. I hope this was done in error and you will resolve this problem immediately. Teaching is an honorable job, but oftentimes a thankless job. TV Land's repulsive show "Teachers" is irresponsible and an insult to all teachers.

As a consumer, I am asking you to please pull your ad immediately and sponsor family-friendly programming instead. I certainly hope your company's financial support of this type of television programming through advertising is simply an oversight. My decision to support your company depends on it.

I urge your company to place "Teachers" on your "do not advertise" list in protest of the attempt to desensitize America and our children by promoting inappropriate behavior.
