As a parent and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I urge you to change your policy and no longer allow commercials promoting Freeform programs to air on the Disney Channel. Unsuspecting families and children are shocked by these inappropriate actions of the Disney Channel. Disney is designed to entertain children not harm them.

By changing the name of ABC Family Channel, the network is admitting it is not a family network so it makes no sense to promote Freeform programs on the Disney Channel.

Hopefully, Disney will quickly make these corrections and in the future help protect thousands of children by providing proper material for young viewers even during commercial breaks. I encourage your network take this request seriously, or families will be forced to find another channel to view together.

Disney Channel includes a blurb that these particular shows may be too mature for young audiences. If the Freeform programming, such as "Shadowhunters," is only suitable for mature audiences, then why is your network advertising it on a children's channel?

If Disney continues to air commercials advertising Freeform programs, then my family will have no choice but to no longer watch the Disney Channel Network at all in our home.
| HAVING TROUBLE TAKING ACTION?

One Million Moms appreciates ABC Family changing its name to Freeform since the network's programming did not match the channel's family-oriented name. The network's content will stay the same, but at least parents will no longer be misled by the name.

The name change is good news! It would have been better if the network had cleaned up the programming, but since that wasn't going to happen, a name change was necessary. Over the years there has been a public outcry because of the content aired under the family label. 1MM has warned parents numerous times that this so-called family channel was anything but that. There is nothing family-friendly about the network, and the name change was long overdue since it was confusing families.

Even though the Freeform network can be avoided or even blocked in homes, the bad news is previews for Freeform programs are now being advertised on the Disney Channel. ABC Family Channel, now Freeform, is owned by Disney so this cross promotion would be understandable except for the fact that the content is entirely unacceptable for a children's network. If a name change is necessary because of the content, then why would it be acceptable to advertise on a network designed for children?

One of the upcoming shows being promoted, "Shadowhunters" is about a girl who discovers on her 18th birthday that she has the power to fight demons. When commercials begin to give children nightmares then families will no longer be able to watch the Disney Channel network either. Freeform network will remain off limits for most conservative families, and if the Disney Channel does not make necessary changes it will as well. Not every program on Disney Channel is appropriate, but programs can be avoided unlike commercials.

Please share this information with everyone you know since there is strength in numbers.
