Update! Godiva’s response:
“Recently, one of our ads was aired during the TV Land program, 'Teachers,' and we want to address any potential concerns about its timing and placement.
When we run our TV advertising, it is typically distributed through a random mix of cable networks and their various programs. Ads are chosen to run during defined blocks of time in order to reach as many people as possible. When our ad appears during a specific show, we are not necessarily making an endorsement of that show. We have reviewed our advertising plan for the future, however, and 'Teachers' is not in the schedule.
We want to thank all of our customers who have reached out to us to express their concerns. As a global brand, Godiva appeals to wide audience with diverse attitudes, and we appreciate all feedback.”
Thank you for helping us fight indecency! No further action is needed!
UPDATE! Keep up the great work! One Million Moms contacted L.L. Bean and asked that they pull their ads, and the company is no longer supporting "Teachers." As soon as 1MM alerted L.L. Bean that its commercials were airing during this indecent show, the company pulled the ads immediately. Their ads were not present during the last episode.
It is almost impossible to describe the depth of depravity found in the TV Land sitcom "Teachers." Every scene is filled with sexual innuendos, implications, or graphic encounters.
TV Land continues to air the vile program "Teachers" on Tuesday evenings at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT with a TV-14 L rating, but the previews air much earlier in the evening when children are likely watching TV. The vulgar advertisements for "Teachers" are airing during shows such as the "Andy Griffith Show" and other family-friendly programs. The previews alone are disgusting, and that is extremely disturbing since it involves a young cast. If the promos are this bad, then obviously the show is not suitable for TV.
Teaching is an honorable profession, but oftentimes a thankless job. 1MM wants to support and encourage educators, not belittle, mock, or bring them down as TV Land is doing.
TV Land is encouraging drug use, crude dialogue, offensive gestures at school, teachers being cruel to young children, and questioning authority. "Teachers" is irresponsible and an insult to women and teachers.
Please use the information we have provided to contact Godiva and ask that they pull their ads from "Teachers" immediately.
