POM Commercial is Anything but Wonderful

POM Commercial is Anything but Wonderful

The newest POM Wonderful Antioxidant drink ad includes a woman doing yoga while the “Worry Monster” mascot talks to viewers.

“As Julie’s Worry Monster, I couldn’t wait for her 50th birthday,” the monster says. “But instead of worrying, she does yoga and drinks POM. I thought we’d have more girls’ nights reading the internet about diseases we could have. Don’t even get me started on her sex life. It’s perfect!”

As if that isn't disgusting enough, the description the company posted on YouTube reads: “Julie got healthy and started drinking POM Wonderful. Now her Worry Monster’s worried about what’s gotten into her.”

This vile commercial is airing during prime time when children are likely watching television. POM should be ashamed! When this type of commercial airs too early in the evening, family viewing time is ruined. Can you imagine what goes through the mind of a child when they see this ad?

We all know children repeat what they hear. There is nothing funny about kids mimicking this behavior. It is extremely destructive and damaging to impressionable children viewing the commercial.

POM may push away customers if they continue advertising in a repulsive manner that offends parents. POM needs to know parents do not approve!

If you are as passionate about removing this offensive commercial as I am, please SHARE with your family and friends.

As a parent and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I am disgusted by the “Get Rid of Your Worry Monster: Yoga” commercial that POM Wonderful is currently airing. Your ad is irresponsible and tasteless! Please, don't lower your advertising standards to the level of repulsive commercials.

POM is using a form of media that is intended to be naughty and catchy, but it should be avoided if a company is concerned about its reputation. I believe POM can do much better.

As a consumer, I am asking you to stop producing vulgar ads, and I urge you to pull this “Get Rid of Your Worry Monster: Yoga” commercial immediately. While the shock value of this ad may draw attention to your product, it is harmful for children who may see it.

As a parent, this commercial is disrespectful to me personally and to my family. Everyone knows children repeat what they hear. This disgusting advertisement is airing during prime time when children are likely watching. I find it extremely offensive and destructive, not to mention damaging to impressionable children viewing the commercial.

My family does not talk like this, so I do not appreciate you bringing this vulgar language into my home with a television advertisement. I encourage your company to make more professional marketing choices in the future.

I hope you agree and will pull this ad immediately. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my concern.
