The program portrays Jesus as a profane, pot-smoking, alcohol-drinking character and mocks the Christian faith. The program continuously uses God's name in vain and foul language, along with violence, gunfire, drugs, and other inappropriate incidents which completely misrepresent Jesus.
I certainly hope your company's financial support of this type of television programming through advertising is simply an oversight.
Please let me know that you have ordered your advertising off "Black Jesus" and all programs that make a mockery of the Christian faith.
The late night programming on the Cartoon Network, known as Adult Swim, has decided to continue airing the non-animated show "Black Jesus." The show makes a mockery of our Lord and Savior. The foul language used, including using the Lord's name in vain, is disgusting. In addition, there is violence, gunfire, drugs, excessive alcohol consumption, and other inappropriate content.
The sacrilegious "Black Jesus" is airing on Friday evenings at 11:00 pm ET/ 10:00 pm CT with a MA-L rating. The show presents blasphemy!
Adult Swim is obviously not a family network and this program airs later in the evening when children should be asleep, but that is no excuse. Adult Swim has crossed the line by belittling the Christian religion with foul jokes.
"Black Jesus" is another attempt to distort the truth about Christianity. There is power in numbers! Please share this with everyone you know.
Guitar Center was the major advertiser who paid corporate dollars to promote its products in association with the program "Black Jesus."
Use the information we have provided on our website, and let Guitar Center know that its advertising dollars are supporting bigotry and animosity toward people of faith and that financial support should be pulled immediately.
P.S. UPDATE! In case you haven't heard, ABC is making some major changes to the new "Muppets" program. Season 2 will have a complete overhaul since the first attempt with an adult-themed "Muppets" did not receive the ratings hoped. ABC has replaced executive producer Bob Kushell, the man who was behind the idea of taking "The Muppets" in a more adult direction. The new executive producer is Kristin Newman. The change indicates it will reduce blatant adult references. It is too soon to say if it will be completely family-friendly though. It is also difficult to know for sure what's behind the network's decision, although 1MM did warn parents, had the media writing about it, and had parents questioning the network.
