Joe's Crab Shack hires children to use profanity in new ad
The casual atmosphere of Joe's Crab Shack has some families who find this restaurant appropriate for all ages. Their commercials have gone from questionable to offensive after one man's slipup becomes a language lesson for the family.
OMM is extremely concerned with their latest ad. A family is eating crab legs at Joe's Crab Shack. The dad curses when he accidently flings crab meat. Even though they bleep out what he said, it is obvious that his response is "Oh, sh*t!" Then three children repeat what they have heard. At the end of the ad, the daughter and mother cover their mouths because of this family's use of foul language.
The majority of this ad is the curse word "sh*t" being bleeped out repeatedly, but there is no effort to cover mouths while this is being said. Not that this would make it okay, but then viewers especially children would not be subjected to know exactly what is being said. Even non-lip readers can plainly see what is being said. It is extremely obvious.
An even greater offense is that these children have been hired by Joe's Crab Shack to say this and then act shocked. Joe's Crab Shack, owned by Ignite Restaurant Group, should be ashamed. This ad has already been banned by FOX, Turner Network and The Discovery Channel.
Other Joe's Crab Shack commercials in review:
1) A table mostly male with one female who is asked several times to take her top off. After she acts confused they lift the cover/lid to her entrée to reveal her meal. 2) A man and women are on a date with him sitting behind her to assist her in eating her crab legs. When the crab meat lands on her bib, he helps her by wiping it off, continuously rubbing her bib which is lying over her chest.

Many of you have done this, and it is very helpful.
